Pulau Aur is one of the island around islands in Mersing which was gazetted asĀ Marine ParkĀ in 1994 under the Establishment of Marine Park Malaysia and the Fisheries Act 1985. The awarding of the marine parks is because of the uniqueness and diversity of marine resources and the presence of beautiful coral reef around the island. The Marine Park in Johor is also known asĀ Sultan Iskandar Marine Park.
Pulau Aur also was gazetted asĀ National ParkĀ in 10 December 2003.Ā The park is adorned by hill forest structure, mangrove and beach side forest, apart from being a popular destination among divers and sea lover.
